Monday, June 9, 2008 “Storms leave 6 dead, thousands without power” A swift-moving band of thunderstorms swept through the state this weekend, uprooting trees and felling power lines that disrupted electricity to at least 254,000 homes and businesses and leaving six people dead. Many of those electric customers won't see power back on until Tuesday or Wednesday, even as temperatures are forecast to climb into the upper 80s. Storms also are possible today and Tuesday, but not as severe, weather forecasters say. |
